It's raining, it's pouring

... but we're still in level 5 warning. Ahem. Actually, Hillsborough reportedly gained 3 days' worth of water or so on their ongoing 30-day countdown. About the only reason they haven't gone to level 6 is that no one's figured out what level 6 should entail. Needless to say, I'm not going to be singing "Rain, Rain, Go Away" any time soon. Andy thought it was best to skip my walk tonight. I may either go if the rain lets up at any point in the day tomorrow, or risk melting and go out walking tomorrow night. Or, of course, the rain could stop, but I hope not.

Today was nice. We cuddled on the couch for a while, with occasional Foo visits in which she walked all over us and would occasionally curl up in my lap and purr. When Jewel's mom came over to give us some mis-delivered mail we got up, then we relocated for more involved cuddling. Afterward Andy did his time on the Nordic Track while I shower. If Gail is perched on the bathroom cabinet when I go to take my shower, she now grooms as soon as I step into the tub. I wonder if she might be convinced to be a water-loving kitty.

Andy has spent most of the rest of the day working on his dissertation and watching Monty Python, and I worked on various things while watching as well. For dinner we had large salads, his with chicken and cheese and mine plain. I tossed my chicken in with some rice for a change of pace. I also found some half-decent fares for our trip to Rome in October, which is a nice surprise.

Right now Thena is on the box behind my monitor, her eyes opened but her breathing sounding like snores. Gail is curled up in her little bed. We almost lost electricity earlier (our UPS clicked three or four times) and I believe part of our complex may've lost their electricity for at least a few minutes. Luckily Andy's taken to burning tea lights in the evening, so if we do lose power we'll be able to find our other candles. Every once in a while it's nice just turning off the lights and watching candlelight.
